Sara began teaching adult education art classes after moving to California and continued to teach while she and her husband raised their two children. Locally, she taught for a number of Adult Education districts in the South Bay and for an occasional community college in addition to the Palo Alto Art Center. She is currently teaching for the Mountain View/Los Altos Adult Education and Fremont Union Adult Education of Sunnyvale and Cupertino programs. She teaches art workshops at Filoli Center in Woodside, California, and at the Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT) in San Jose. She and her husband team teach a class at Stanford University on Art Materials and Chemistry.
When her husband took a sabbatical, Sara and her children spent time with him in Paris, France and Mainz, Germany. She continued to work on her freelance artwork in calligraphy and taught adult education during these times.
Sara was instrumental in founding the Pacific Scribes calligraphy guild in California in 1982 and is still an active member of the group. She helped initiate the Pacific Scribes Independent Study program and began to develop the Founders Fund Outreach Program.
Sara exhibits her art in a wide variety of venues. She has been a member of the San Francisco Friends of Calligraphy since the late 1970s and has exhibited in their Kalligraphia show. Her artwork has been juried into the Triton Museum's annual Association of Visual Artists show each year since its inception. Her other shows include the Palo Alto Medical Clinic, the Fine Arts League of Cupertino Art in the Park, San Jose City Hall, Los Altos and Cupertino Libraries, the Santa Clara County Fair, Saratoga Library, and the San Mateo County Fair. In 2006 she was invited to exhibit her work with a small group of Califomia artists in Chengde and Qufu, China. In 2008 her work was displayed in the Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz, CA, and at the Mohr Gallery in Mountain View, CA.

Sara was named Artist of the Year in 1997 for the City of Cupertino. Her work was profiled in the Association of Calligraphic Artists newsletter in 2001. In 2002, she received First place and a scholarship from the San Mateo County Fair to attend the Academy of Art in San Francisco.
Sara has participated in 12 International Calligraphy Conferences held across the United States. She has taught classes and provided workshops for the Portland Society for Calligraphy, Sea Scribes of Monterey, and Pacific Scribes. Sara feels strongly that everyone can enjoy being creative and that being creative helps us fill an inherent need we have to express our individuality. Sara's passion for sharing art is evident in the open and easy way she shares her knowledge and experience with others.
